Why Veriva

Veriva is a polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) polymer developed by Syensqo* for long-term implantable medical devices in contact with bodily tissue and fluids for 30 days or more. It is also used in devices implanted for periods beyond the limitations of materials that are approved for short-term exposure, or up to 24 hours.

Manufactured in a dedicated cGMP-compliant and ISO 13485 certified facility and tested in ISO 17025 accredited laboratories, Veriva PPSU has received regulatory approvals in the US, Europe and China.

What are the Performance Characteristics of Veriva Implantable PPSU?

The implantable PPSU’s high structural strength, toughness, and dimensional stability make it an effective replacement for metal in many medical, dental and veterinary devices. It is compatible with all common sterilization methods. Based on its properties and regulatory compliance, Veriva PPSU allows MDMs to apply the advantages of lighter weight, transparency, and design and production versatility to the development of devices for prolonged or permanent implantation.

What is the Difference Between Veriva V-500 PPSU and Veriva V-501 PPSU?

The two designations for Veriva PPSU identify color only. Veriva V-500 PPSU is the transparent or “neat” grade, while Veriva V-501 is opaque white. Both have identical properties and certifications.

*Syensqo is the corporate designation for the former Solvay Specialty Polymers business.
