Why PEEK

Chemically defined as polyetheretherketone, PEEK is semi-crystalline thermoplastic with an unmatched combination of high-performance properties. The melt processable material is extruded into stock shapes for machining, and is also injection molded.

What are the Key Properties of PEEK?

PEEK is recognized for its combination of high strength, resistance to chemicals and steam, electrical insulation and toughness. It maintains its strength at high thermal extremes with a softening point of 150oC (302oF). PEEK also excels on flammability and low smoke generation ratings from various industry agencies.

What Different Types of PEEK are Available?

PEEK resin can be modified or compounded with reinforcements and additives that improve its rigidity and bearing and wear resistance. This versatility has led to a profusion of grades that extend the life of severe service components used in industrial, oil and gas, aerospace, healthcare and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.

Does PEEK Comply with ISO 10993?

Medical grade PEEK meets the compliance requirements of ISO 10993 for applications that see short-term contact with bodily fluids and tissue for up to 24 hours. Specialized implantable PEEK grades are also available that meet the stringent requirements of ASTM F2026 and ISO 10993 for devices implanted long term, or greater than 30 days.

Does Genesis Offer Long-Term Biocompatible PEEK Products?

GENESIS PEEK® extrudes PEEK semi-finished machinable shapes and film that meet ASTM  F2026 requirements for long-term implantable PEEK devices.
